DHTML Menu Builder Actions
Positioning the menus with the Position AgentMaking the menus align with the hot spots you've designated in your web page, can be a little bit frustrating.
That is why DHTML Menu Builder comes with a handy tool called the Position Agent.
With the Position Agent you can set, right into your final document where you would like the menus to appear.
IMPORTANT: DHTML Menu Builder only supports absolute positioning. That is why you should make your hot spots stay in the sample place regardless of the aspect of the browser's window. So, if you're using tables to align the hot spots, make sure these tables have fixed width values and not percentages.
To use the Position Agent, you must first set the Document Containing the HotSpots property.
To open the Position Agent simply click on the Position Agent icon (
) on the main toolbar or Preview your project and then click on the Position Agent icon on the Preview dialog's toolbar.
The Position Agent will load the file specified in the Destination File property of the Project just as it will look from inside the browser.
- Select from the list of groups that appear in the upper left corner of the Position Agent's window
- While moving your mouse pointer you'll notice a cross hair cursor. Use it to specify the initial upper left corner from where the menu should appear.
- Click the left mouse button and you'll notice how the x,y pairs get updated with the new position. So the next time you compile your project, these values will be saved in the hRef.txt file and no manual intervention will be required.
While in the Position Agent, you can choose to temporarily open an alternate HTML document to position your menus.
This can become handy, when the menus will be used in a page that will be automatically included into other pages. If you prefer to set the x,y pairs manually, simply double click the x, y values showed on the toolbar and a text box will appear where you can type the value in pixels.
